Diabetes, a serious lifelong disease is extremely common in both adults and children. It interferes with the human body’s ability to properly use or provide insulin, which is a hormone that naturally occurs in the body. It is essential for the proper use of the sugar or energy that is contained in the food that one consumes.
Although accidentally high blood sugar level does not always cause serious problems, though when left unattended for an extended period of time it can result in causing some serious health hazards, even a stroke or heart attack .
Diabetes Medication:
Numerous types of treatment are used for diabetes, but one of the most common involves diabetes medication. There are a few diabetes medication in particular that are most frequently prescribed, Avandia being one of these.
Avandia works differently than most other diabetes medicines. Rather than causing your body to produce more insulin, it helps to use its natural supply of insulin better. This results in not only being healthier on your body in general but also reduces the side effects that you suffer, as a result of using the medication.
It lowers your blood sugar and helps to keep your blood sugar levels under control for an extended period of time. It can either be taken alone or with other types of diabetes medication. Many people actually need to take more than one type of medication for their diabetes, especially if it is severe or if they have been suffering over a long period of time.
Byetta is another popular diabetes medication, an injectable drug that works by reducing the level of sugar in the blood, and is used to treat Type 2 diabetes. It is generally used in combination with other diabetes drugs so as to reduce blood glucose in patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose reduction by taking other methods of treatment
Be Alert:
Before you start on any type of diabetes medication, whether doctor-prescribed or not, make sure that you are aware of all the symptoms and side effects that can occur as a result of taking the medication. Talk to your doctor and make sure that you understand the effects of drug fully before taking it, so that you are aware and prepared for any side effects that the medicine is going to have on you.
