Tattooing an alternative to the diabetic bracelet

While most diabetic people learn to deal and adjust to their condition and while many youngsters try to pay attention to their parents and understand what they are trying to say to them or teach them in regards to this disease. Many more are simply walking by without being aware whether their close friend is diabetic and what type of diabetes does he or she has.

Knowledge is power and as such being aware that those close to us have diabetes or letting them know is the first step in allowing or asking them for help when a diabetic patient suffers some sort of relapse or worse.

Having first responder emergency skills are one of the most important skills that a person can and should have. These might be the difference between life or death and in most of the times, it simply is not enough to call the emergency service phone number and have them read back to you whatever it is that you need to perform in terms of emergency manoeuvres.

However, this all might not be enough if the person of whom the survival depends has no awareness of the type of diabetic condition that the patient has. The use of diabetic bracelets is certainly a starting point in letting everyone know that you have such condition; but, what will happen if the bracelet gets lost?

Modern life has elevated the social perception of tattoos. Nowadays any person can wear a tattoo without being disregarded as an evil person or someone who basically lives in the rogue side of the law. There are many lawyers, doctors and teachers who are respectable and that have good social standing in society that have tattoos.

Therefore, a tattoo might be of service in terms of letting the emergency care personnel know that you have a diabetic condition. Of course, it might not be as sexy or trendy to have the legend inscribed in your arm, but many things can be crafted to make the announcement trendier.
